Mormon Identities is a program about real Latter-day Saints as they live the restored gospel of Jesus Christ in the world today. We explore how the gospel shapes our identities in episodes dealing with our communitites, culture, scriptures, doctrines, life experiences, and challenges.
In this episode of Mormon Identity host Robert Millet discusses women in the scriptures with associate chair of ancient scripture at Brigham Young University, Camille Fronk Olsen. Camille refers to her early career studies at the University of Utah's institute of religion. While she was encouraged to teach on subjects of her choice, her contemporaries warned of difficulties in finding adequate "women in the scriptures" material to support a single term of study. But over time Camille's research grew to include three full terms of study. And now, after a 20-year teaching career, Sister Olsen has helped countless students better appreciate the equal value our Father in Heaven places on both men and women.
